About the Department of Leadership and Policy in Education
The Department of Leadership and Policy in Education includes a BA, MA and PhD degrees. The purpose of the undergraduate studies here is to develop an understanding of the field of policy, organization and administration, with an emphasis on the social and cultural context and its impact on the wider education system, both the formal and informal. In addition, studies focus simultaneously on a broad understanding of the local school system (Israel) and the global (international) one, out of an analytical, critical and innovative thinking. The proposed bachelor degree program will allow students who meet the criteria to be accepted without having to complete courses in each of the graduate division in the department.
The MA and PhD studies are organized in two divisions: the Division of Administration of Educational Systems, designed to provide knowledge and experience in the field of administration and human resources and expose students to organizational-administrative knowledge and administrative tools. The purpose of the program is to train a leadership pool that can help educational organizations adapt to changes in the environment and improve organizational effectiveness. The second division is the Division of Education, Culture and Society, which involves the understanding of the interaction between education, society and culture, with special emphasis put on non-formal education. The goal of this division is to develop a critical view of socialization processes in different educational settings. It is designed for students with social awareness and social responsibility, wishing to assume leading positions in formal and informal educational organizations.
